Brief Bio

Paola Cerchiello is researcher  in Statistics at University of Pavia, Italy. 

At the University of Pavia she is lecturer of ‘Applied Statistics’ (9 CFU) in MEFI (Master in Economics, Finance and International Integration) and of ‘Big Data Analysis’ (6 CFU) in MIBE (Master in International Business and Management).

She is lecturer ofData Mining’ in MADAS (Master in Data Science for Complex Economic Systems) at Collegio Carlo Alberto, University of Turin.

Study degrees and experiences

*BS in Economics, University of Pavia, 2002;

*Degree IUSS (Scuola Universitaria Superiore Pavia)  in 2002;

*PhD in Statistics, University Milan-Bicocca, 2006.

She has spent a research period abroad, at the Rutgers University, New Jersey.

Research

She is currently working on text data models, systemic risk, big data analysis and ordinal variables.

She has participated to several projects: P.R.I.N. (Italian Ministry of Research grant, 2013-2016) MISURA: ‘Multivariate Models for Risk Assessment’, @abilita  granted by The Minister of Economic Development on “Tecnologies for Made in Italy” (2010-2012), European network COBEREN on consumer behaviors. (P.R.I.N. 2009-2010) on “Multivariate Methods for the evaluation of the quality and of the risks in academic context”, (P.R.I.N., 2007-2008) on “Multivariate statistical methods for the evaluation of public services”, (F.I.R.B, 2006-2009) on “Data mining methods for small and medium enterprises”, (European Integrated Project M.U.S.I.N.G., 2006-2010) on “Data mining models for advanced business intelligence applications”.  She has also participated to the territorial project “Antica Pieve di Mazzo” and to the European network ‘Young’ for comparative studies on consumer behaviour.

She is also member of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS) and of CLADAG (Classification and Data Analysis Group).

 

She is member of ‘Big Data Group’ at Deutsche Bundesbank, Frankfurt, Germany.

She is currently referee for several international journals: The Journal of Operational Risk, Communication and Statistics, Journal of Big data, Scientometrics, Expert Systems with Applications, British Journal of Mathematics & Computer Science, Journal of Classification, Statistical Methods and Applications, Statistical Analysis and Data Mining.

She is member of the board of the Italian journal ‘Statistica & Società’.
