Brief Bio

Giovanna Magnani is Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pavia. 

She is vice director of the PhD in Applied Economics and Management in collaboration with the University of Bergamo and faculty member of the Master in Marketing Utilities and Storytelling Techniques (M.U.S.T). She has been visiting scholar at the University of Queensland (Australia) and at IAELyon Management School. Since 2014 she advises local SMEs and industrial associations. Her studies have appeared in the International Business Review, Journal of Business Research, International Marketing Review, European Management Journal. Giovanna’s research interests include the following: International Entrepreneurship, in particular learning processes and uncertainty-coping strategies in foreign countries; Global Value Chain Dynamics and the impact of Industry 4.0 on their re-configuration, Sustainable Business Models in particular sharing and circular business models


Research interests relates to the dynamics of global value chains, their determinants and performance implications for firms; internationalisation strategy of small and medium sized firms and their uncertainty-coping strategic mechanisms
