Brief Bio

Giovanna Magnani is Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pavia.

She has been visiting scholar at the University of Queensland (Australia) and since 2017 is invited lecturer at IAELyon Management School. She is part of the faculty board of the Master in Marketing Utilities and Storytelling Techniques (M.U.S.T). Since 2017 she coordinates the teaching activities of the Applied Economics and Management Program PhD program (joint Universities of Bergamo and Pavia) where she is lecturer in the Qualitative Methods module.

Since 2014 she has advised local SMEs and industrial associations, such as Confindustria. Giovanna’s research interests include the following: International Entrepreneurship, in particular learning processes and uncertainty-coping strategies in foreign countries; Global Value Chain Dynamics and the impact of Industry 4.0 on their re-configuration, Entrepreneurial Processes such as intention-action gap and cognitive biases; Sustainable Business Models in particular sharing and circular ventures.


Research interests relates to the dynamics of global value chains, their determinants and performance implications for firms; internationalisation strategy of small and medium sized firms and their uncertainty-coping strategic mechanisms
